complAI Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
complAI is a field-and-project-engineering assistant for iOS and Android. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and your choices.
1. Who we are
complAI is published by the developer identified in the App Store and Google Play listings. Contact us at jst.jdennis@gmail.com for any privacy question, data export, or deletion request.
2. Using the app without an account
You can use complAI as a guest with no sign-up. Your data is then stored only on your device (local app storage and the app’s document folder) and is not sent to our backend. This includes projects, chat conversations, to-dos, flagged items, scope documents, forms, uploaded documents, and cached code/regulation text. Uninstalling removes this local data.
3. What we store when you create an account
Accounts are optional. If you sign in (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google) we store, in our backend (Supabase — hosted Postgres with row-level security plus Supabase Auth):
- your email and display name;
- your project data (synced across devices);
- organization data if you create or join an organization — members you invite can see data in projects shared with them, and membership, roles, invitations, and an activity log are stored;
- AI usage records (model, token counts, estimated cost, linked to your account) to operate usage limits and billing tiers.
4. Data we send to third parties
| Recipient | What is sent, and why |
|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude AI) | Your chat contents plus the system prompt — which may include project metadata, your approximate location/jurisdiction, excerpts from documents you attach, and code references — to generate AI responses (routed through our secure server function). See Anthropic’s privacy policy. |
| Supabase | Account and project data, for signed-in users only (database, auth, and sync hosting). |
| eCFR (ecfr.gov) | Your federal-regulation search terms, to look up current regulation text (public U.S. government API). |
| Apple / Google | Sign-in tokens, only if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google. |
| hCaptcha | Anti-abuse signals during sign-up. |
| GitHub | The feedback text you submit via the in-app feedback option (filed as an issue in our development tracker via a secure server function). |
We do not sell your personal data and do not share it with advertisers.
5. Location
If you grant location permission, the app uses your location once to determine your state/jurisdiction so it can show adopted codes. The precise location is cached on your device and is not stored on our servers; your derived jurisdiction may be included in the prompt sent to Anthropic (Section 4). Location is optional.
6. Analytics & advertising
No third-party analytics SDKs and no advertising SDKs. Crash and performance diagnostics, when available, are provided by the platform (Apple/Google) and are not linked to your account by us.
7. Retention
Local (guest) data persists until you delete it or uninstall. Account data is retained while your account is active; deleting your account deletes your associated cloud data. AI usage records may be retained in aggregate for billing and abuse prevention.
8. Your choices and rights
Access/export: email us. Deletion: delete your account and cloud data from the app’s Settings, or email us; remove local data by uninstalling. Permissions (location, microphone, camera, notifications) are optional and controlled in device settings. Depending on where you live (EEA/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, etc.) you may have additional rights — contact us to exercise them.
9. Children
complAI is a professional tool intended for engineers and is not directed to children under 13 (or the local equivalent). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Security
Account data is protected by Supabase row-level security and HTTPS. Our Anthropic API key and other secrets are held server-side and are never shipped in the app.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves; material changes are reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
